Vegetables nutrition – On Egg plants! Benefits and dangers

Today i would like to discuss Eggplant (aubergine, excuse my french :)   on vegetables nutrition, because two different people told me yesterday that they eat e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g, but never an eggplant. First of all, eggplant is a fruit, not a vegetable, but that is another issue. Today I want to elaborate a bit about the good and bad in eggplants. Let’s begin with the dangers.

Eggplants can cause allergies to someone who is sensitive to it. It is a very small portion of society, as far as research says. Those of us allergic to it probably know it by now, else the response is too weak to be noticed. In that case it is not too good, as an allergic response that is there yet is weak, is unstable, and one never knows what will happen the next time the body interacts with the allergy encouraging materials.

Vegetables Nutrition Eggplant Warning:

Eggplant shouldn’t be eaten in large quantities if you are pregnant, as it is known to encourage miscarriage. Of course that doesn’t mean it has to be avoided entirely, as it has it’s benefits.

The third bad is oxalate, which is a material that might cause problems for some of us. Some people have some kidney, liver or gallbladder issues that might not go to well with oxalate. This substance tends to crystallize and create different illness, depending on where in the body this little rock is created. If you have a medical problem of such nature, I am (or at least want to be) certain that the doctor that had diagnosed it have told you this. If not, check! Either way, if eaten here and there and in small quantities, all of this shouldn’t cause any illness.  Let’s take things in proportion here, o.k?

We need to keep a well balanced diet, eating many different fruits and  vegetables. Nutrition is the key for health, I remind us, and the eggplant has it’s place in the diet of most of us.

Vegetables nutrition – some benefits:

Now the benefits of eggplant, as i am hoping not to give it a bad reputation. The nutritional values of eggplant, other then being delicious,  are in it’s high levels of potassium, magnesium, and dietary fiber. It contains vitamins A, C and K, among others.  It also contains anti-oxidants, clears the arteries, lowers cholesterol levels and helps in preventing cancer.  It is good for blood stagnation of any kind, for reducing bleeding for bleeding hemorrhoids or blood in the urine, and so many other things (some even use it for snake bites!). It also has materials that help the body regulate iron levels, which is super important. And i didn’t even say anything about the lipids that protects the brain….

wow, there are so many benefits. I’m getting hungry for some eggplants, especially baked in the oven then eaten with Tahiti… mmm…

It’s not too fare for our aubergine here, as i have written so much about the dangers and only a little about the benefits of it, but I have got to go now. You can follow the links to read about each benefit (Dietary fibers, Iron…) separately, as i have written about some, and the rest i will address later on.

Thanks for reading another post of vegetables nutrition. Be healthy!!
