Vegetables nutrition – eating to solve constipation

Vegetables nutrition – all about constipation

On today’s post of “Vegetables nutrition” we will  discuss how to naturally solve constipation. No pharmaceuticals, only natural solutions. First a very short introduction and then the scoop about how to stop our intestines from constipating.

Some of you may not even know that being constipated it is a very common state-of-being, and that it could lead to some serious health issues. The definition of constipation varies depending on where you read, but ideally, in normal day-to-day living we should have one or two visits to the toilet. Less then once a day is already a type of constipation, even though some of us go once every couple of days for our entire life, and that’s o.k. The reason i say it is o.k is that constipation, much like many other medical terms, is defined by statistics, and there for if you don’t fall in the statistic-borders, it doesn’t mean anything is wrong.

Vegetables nutrition  - on constipation solutions:

So, if you are constipated, by your own understanding of the subject, or by the medical term, here are a few nutritional tools available to deal with the situation in a healthy non-drug way (the full lists soon to follow):

  • Bowel movement encouraging fruits and vegetables
  • Intestine lubricating fruits and vegetables
  • Special remedies
  • Herbal treatment
  • Eat vegetables (Nutrition is the base of it all.)

So, in order to promote bowel movement, try and include these in your daily diet: Papaya, figs, coconut, sweet potato, asparagus. You could also eat a water melon on am “empty stomach”. Well, not really empty, being constipated and all, but not after any other food has been eaten for at least 3 hours.

To lubricate the intestines eat apples, peach, prunes, bananas, pears, spinach, beets, carrots, alfalfa sprouts, honey, walnuts and almonds. Don’t mix them, of course, but include them in your diet, in the right way (read about food combining in this link). You can also eat seaweed, or use sesame oil for dressing you salad (sesame seeds in general are good for constipation as lubricators and bowel movement agents)

Heal yourself the vegetables nutrition way:

Special remedies are easily made, and serve different types of constipation. My absolute favourite one is the Flex seed sponge. Take a spoon of flex seed, and put it in a glass of water for the night. In the morning you will have a sponge like substance, which you need to drink, and eat the seeds. Do it on an “empty stomach”, and drink a glass of water about half an hour later. You might feel thirst later on, so do notice your water consumption throughout the day.

The herbal treatments depends a lot on the level of constipation you are experiencing, and the origin of the problem. In general, use the bark of barberryrhubarbcascara, as they are pretty strong for that. I prefer not to address the herbal treatment too much here, as it is deeper and much more complicated then the rest, as the right  preparations are crucial, and there are many factors to consider.

Hope the information helps your digestion. Please feel more then free to tell me how it worked for you,  share your own remedies, and stay healthy! This is it for this post of Vegetables nutrition.
